This Saturday night (22 Feb 2014) the Classic Rock Society is holding its annual awards night, and some of us will be there. We’re not very interested in the gongs, but there’ll be music and drinking, so get yourself a ticket here.

Our drummer Ed’s metal band Bloodguard have changed their name to Beyond Grace (perhaps to escape creditors). I suggested Beyond Psychiatric Help but they didn’t take me up on that.
Anyway, they are touring the UK next week with Monolith Deathcult and Talanas. Check out their new Facebook page for the details.
Another great economics rap — round two of Keynes vs Hayek:
First one here.
Here’s a Christmassy animated video for the holidays that Bobby Standridge (the guy who did the Neil Peart animated YYZ video that I linked to a few months ago) sent me:
Yes, Red B. (featuring Coralspin bassist Micky W.) playing with former Pallas frontman Alan Reed tonight in Rotherham at The Wesley Centre.
This is one of the best modern prog songs I’ve heard in years. There’s a real Gentle Giant influence there (as well as Dream Theatre). Plus it has muppets, so it can’t get any better.
Our drummer Ed is on tour next week with one of his other bands Bloodguard. When I asked Ed to describe them he said it was difficult, “But maybe melodic death metal… with ‘melodic’ being a relative term!”. They’re playing with Awakening Sun. The tour concludes with a Nottingham gig at The Salutation Inn, which unfortunately I won’t be able to make as I’m going to see our bass player Mick’s other band Red Bazar play at the Classic Rock Society.
More details on Bloodguard’s Facebook page.
Here’s Morrissey singing some of the lines from his new autobiography.
(Some say it’s not actually Morrissey in this video, but I don’t believe that.)
